Amadeu produces rubber from the latex of the rubber trees in the Brazilian rainforests. This is turns out to be the perfect excuse to protect the forests!

From making a living out of wild rubber production, residents protect large areas of the native Amazon rainforest. Local populations exert political influence over preserved natural areas. Supporting the rainforest micro-economies means avoiding deforestation, mining, and cattle ranching. It also means engaging with knowledge about local fauna and flora.

Production process

The farmers tap the rubber trees to collect the latex, a white and milky liquid. This technique preserves the tree's productivity for more than 30 years. Any solid residues are recycled by Amadeu’s partners or used as a filler for furniture or other products.

These are the three main steps in the production process –

1- A full analysis of the latex to assure its quality.

2- The natural latex is then prepared with Amadeu’s patented chemical formulation - a non-toxic pigment that penetrates and binds to the material to grant it a rich & vibrant colour.

3- Pour & disperse the latex formulation over the cotton fabric.
